Waterfalls in Mallorca – Salt des Freu

Waterfalls in Mallorca – do they really exist? Mallorca is an island associated mainly with the sun, beautiful beaches and mountain landscapes. But did you know that you can also see waterfalls here? Salt des Freu is one of the few places in Mallorca where you can admire this phenomenon in the winter season. Unfortunately, these waterfalls appear only periodically, after heavy rainfall, which makes them a unique and somewhat unpredictable attraction.

Waterfalls in Mallorca – a natural seasonal phenomenon

Mallorca, although full of natural treasures, does not have many places that are conducive to the formation of waterfalls. Salt des Freu is an exception – during the rainy season, streams of water flowing from the Serra de Tramuntana mountains create small waterfalls that attract both locals and tourists. It is an ideal place to immerse yourself in nature, admire the lush greenery and enjoy the view of water flowing down surrounded by rocky formations.

It is worth noting that Salt des Freu is not a waterfall in the traditional sense – water only appears when heavy rains fill the local springs. During the dry season, this place does not offer the same effect, but it is still worth a visit for its beautiful landscapes.

How to get to Salt des Freu?

The easiest way to get to Salt des Freu is by car. Your route should take you through the picturesque town of Orient. Once you get there, park on the side of the road near coordinates: 39.732821, 2.742486. There are few parking spaces, so it is worth arriving early in the morning, especially on weekends when the place is popular with locals.

From the parking space, it is about a 30-minute walk. The path is relatively easy, although it can be muddy and slippery in places, so comfortable, waterproof shoes are a must. The trail leads through the forest, where you can enjoy the peace and the birds singing. When you get there, you will see small waterfalls, streams and water holes that create a unique landscape.
