Waterfalls in Mallorca – where are they located?

Waterfalls in Mallorca unfortunately exist only seasonally. I know, I’m not happy with this fact either. Mallorca is unfortunately not Madeira, nor Bali, there are not too good conditions for this type of water reservoirs and waterfalls. However, during the winter season, when Mallorca is dominated by torrential downpours and rains, in some mountainous areas on the island there are such beautiful natural phenomena.

I invite you to watch the video on YouTube, where you will see some frames from this beautiful place:

One of the most visited waterfalls in Mallorca is the Salt des Freu. It is easy to get to and is situated in a very picturesque location. There is only one restaurant in the area, so take something to eat and drink with you. Don’t forget comfortable shoes that you won’t regret getting dirty.

How to get to the Salt des Freu waterfalls?

We first head to the town of Orient, and park the car (if there is room) at this location: 39.732821247179054, 2.742485875651816, off the road. When you see a dirt road on your left and a sign directing you to Santa Maria, it means you are in the right place. You have a hike ahead of you that will take about 30 minutes.

Don’t worry, it’s not hard, but it can be slippery. When you reach a fairly large rock formation, continue straight ahead. A little further on you will see beautiful springs, waterfalls and rivers. This is a great place to relax, bathed in shade, among the beautiful forest. I highly recommend choosing this place during your winter visit to Mallorca. Especially that waterfalls on Mallorca appear only seasonally!

What to see in the Salt des Freu area?

I highly recommend walking around the town of Orient, especially since it’s right next door. Then consider a trip to the castle of Alaro (but it takes a lot of time, so I advise you to think twice), as well as the town of Alaro itself, which is definitely one of the most local places on the island. Not far away are the beautiful gardens of Jardines de Alfabia, or of course the famous town of Soller and the port of Puerto de Soller. The truth is that there are beautiful mountain trails all around and a whole bunch of charming villages to stay in.
