Cala Mayor, Majorca.
Cala Mayor is a beach that is located right next to the capital of Majorca. It can be reached by various buses. It is one of the oldest tourist destinations in Mallorca. Thanks to this, it is really very famous. Is it worth going there?
Cala Mayor is very crowded with tourists in summer. The bay is medium-sized, the beach has everything. Cliff view, crystal clear water, bars, toilets, showers. The beach is guarded and there are also sun loungers. Behind the beach there are shops, hotels, apartments and apartments. The right part of the beach is for surfers.
This is one of the bays where you can go snowboarding. And there aren’t many of them in Majorca. Despite the fairly large waves that can often be encountered on this beach, the water is really beautiful in color. The beach is sandy and has several palm trees.
How to get to Cala Mayor.
There is no parking at the beach. The car can be parked in specially designated places by the pavement. Blue lines mark toll places which definitely predominate in this area. The price is on average EUR 1 per hour of parking, and in the high season it is hard to find a free place. You can also reach the beach by various buses directly from Palma. When it comes to other towns, access will be difficult – here I recommend a car or a scooter.
Palacio de Marivent near the beach.
It is a palace whose name exactly means “palace of the sea and the wind”. It is the summer residence of the Spanish Royal Family. When they come to Majorca, they like to stay there. The children of the royal family have their own private recreation area here. The palace can also be visited! Entry is free, and the gardens and palace are open daily from May 1 at September 30 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and October 1 to April 30 from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
