Cuevas del Drach in Mallorca – The Dragon Caves
Cuevas del Drach in Mallorca, or the Dragon Caves, are one of the most spectacular tourist attractions on the island. Located on the east coast of the island, in the picturesque town of Porto Cristo, they attract thousands of visitors every year. In this article, you will learn why it is worth visiting these unique caves, what attractions await tourists and how to plan a visit.
Why choose Cuevas del Drach?
Cuevas del Drach in Mallorca are caves that offer more than just a typical underground tour. The interior of the caves is impressive with incredible stalactite and stalagmite formations, but what makes this place special is the huge, underground lake Martel. It is one of the largest underground lakes in the world, with a depth of 25 meters.
During the tour, we will also have an unforgettable classical music concert, which takes place on boats on the lake. This extraordinary combination of art and nature creates an atmosphere that you will not find anywhere else in Mallorca. The entire visit lasts about 40 minutes and includes both a walk through the caves and the aforementioned concert. Before the performance, you must follow the rules – no phones or cameras.
I think that the Drach Caves, in the ranking of the most beautiful and interesting caves on the island, land in first place, right next to the Cuevas del Hams, also located in Porto Cristo. It is worth visiting both of these attractions during your visit to the city. Both caves have their own individual character, despite many similarities.
