Pogoda na Cala Marmols
Cala Marmols in Mallorca
Cala Marmols in Mallorca is one of the most picturesque and unspoiled bays on the island, hidden among majestic cliffs. I had long dreamed of seeing this place with my own eyes, but plans were often thwarted by capricious weather. Finally, we made it! After a difficult journey, we reached this tiny, intimate beach, which amazes with its natural beauty. However, before I tell you about the beach itself, I will share with you the details of how to get there – because the road is part of the adventure.
How to get to Cala Marmols?
You have several options to choose from – each has its pros and cons. It all depends on your preferences and physical condition.
- Route from Cap de Ses Salines (lighthouse): This is the most popular option. You drive to the lighthouse, park on the side of the road and set off on foot. After passing the lighthouse, turn left and follow the trail, which is about 5 kilometres long – which translates to about an hour’s walk each way. The route is quite pleasant, but can be tiring in full sun, so be sure to bring water and a hat.
- Route from Cala s’Almunia: An alternative option is to walk from Cala s’Almunia bay. This time, you head right instead of left. The route is a bit more demanding than the one from Cap de Ses Salines, but it is just as picturesque.
- Through private property: This is the quickest, but least legal option. Many tourists choose a shortcut through private property. Near the car park, you will find a locked gate, trampled paths and a damaged fence that allows for a “shortened” route. I do not recommend this option, because it is private property and there is a risk of meeting the owner or the police. However, if you decide to take this route, the walk to the beach will only take you about 20 minutes. The road is well-trodden and shaded, which can be a great advantage on hot days. You leave your car by the road, right next to the private property (there is a hole in the fence).
- By water: You can also go to Cala Marmols by boat, which is a great adventure and a chance to see the surrounding bays. Unfortunately, most companies offering such cruises only allow you to admire the beach from the deck, because the water in the bay is too shallow for the boats to sail close to the shore. However, if you rent your own boat, you can enjoy not only the views, but also water fun, such as jumping into the crystal clear waves. Check the cruises HERE.
What is worth knowing before traveling?
Please note: Cala Marmols has no facilities – no shops, bars, toilets or showers. It is a pristine beach, which has its charm, but requires appropriate preparation. Remember to bring:
- the right amount of water,
- snacks,
- creams with filter,
- towels and a change of clothes (sea salt can be bothersome).
The nearest shop is in Ses Salines, a few kilometres from the beach.
What is Cala Marmols beach like?
The beach is medium-sized, with soft sand and picturesque rocks. The water in the bay is sometimes slightly disturbed by currents and weather, but is usually pleasantly warm and inviting for a swim. For adventure lovers, there is a small cave here, which can be reached on foot or by swimming. If you go here in great weather conditions, you can count on crystal clear water.
Interestingly, Cala Marmols is a popular place for naturists – many tourists sunbathe here topless or naked. Despite the fact that the bay is not deserted, you will not encounter crowds there, so you can really relax.
Around the bay you will also find a lot of viewpoints from which you can take great photos. A walk along the cliffs is recommended here! The atmosphere is added by the cave located at the corner of the bay, which attracts diving and snorkeling enthusiasts.
