Ibiza Vacation

A Ibiza vacation seems like a great idea for party people, but is it just that? We will start with some information that you should know before you go to this beautiful island. Few people know that the actual Spanish name of the island is Eivissa, not Ibiza. The capital of the island is a town with the same name and there are about 50,000 people living there. The island is only 572km2! When you go to google maps you can see that this island is really tiny. Ibiza has a total population of about 150,000 people. By comparison, Mallorca is home to about a million people.

The island is 41km wide and 15km long. The highest peak, named Sa Talaia is only 475 meters high. It is very little, isn’t it? It is only 80km away from Majorca. Very famous place right next to Ibiza is also tiny island of Formentera with amazingly paradise beaches. Formentera is only a few kilometers away from Ibiza. So you can easily go there by boat. Ibiza is located in the Mediterranean Sea. It is a Spanish island belonging to the Balearic archipelago. And it is the third largest.

What to do in Ibiza? – Ibiza vacation

In Ibiza, apart from great parties where you can party until dawn, you can also explore. But what, since the island is so small? The beautiful old town and harbor towns. There are places such as the Ses Salines National Park, which is a salt marsh where flamingos fly. This is the perfect place for them to rest. This is the place where salt is mined.

Vacations in Ibiza are certainly also associated with hippies. In the 60s and 70s of the twentieth century, the Balearic Islands experienced a great tourist boom. This is when a lot of tourists came to the islands. Hippies can also be found on Mallorca, but it is Ibiza that is famous for it. There are weekly hippie markets where you can buy handicrafts and many other items, food and souvenirs. Needless to say, there are lots of wonderful beaches and bays to see!

Ibiza also has two wonderful attractions that no other Balearic island has. Watching the sunset at the Es Vedra viewpoint and a trip to the island of Formentera. If you type #ibiza on instagram, you will definitely see a ton of sunset photos on Es Vedra. It’s a top spot, and in high season the sunset is watched with masses of other people around. Formentera, on the other hand, is a tiny island with beautiful paradise beaches. It is very small and you can get to it by boat. It looks very paradisiacal. The water is very shallow and crystal clear. I think it’s a place you should definitely visit during your vacations in Ibiza.
