Cala Gran in Mallorca

Cala Gran in Mallorca is one of the larger bays in the tourist area of Cala d’Or in the southeast of the island. It is definitely one of the most interesting tourist destinations on the island. It is worth noting that it is associated with crowds on the beaches. What else catches the eye here is definitely the white houses which are more commonly seen on Ibiza or Menorca, the neighboring islands. One thing’s for sure, this region is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for beautiful views, lots of restaurants and crystal clear waters.

Cala Gran in Mallorca is a medium-sized sandy beach surrounded by low cliffs. Ladders leading from the cliffs into the water and boardwalks on the cliffs to get into the bay are another characteristic of the southwestern bay landscape. In the case of Cala Gran it is similar. On the right side of the beach there are rocks with ladders and a restaurant overlooking the bay. The beach is protected and there are also toilets and showers on site. There is also the possibility here to take a catamaran cruise along the southeast coast with a stop for a swim at the Mondrago Natural Park.

What to do in the Cala Gran area?

Definitely head to the promenade with stores in Cala d’Or and the famous Belgian Avenue, or Avinguda de Belgica, which has a whole bunch of great restaurants, from sushi to burgers. There is something for everyone. All the bays in Cala d’Or are worth a visit, but you might be interested in Cala Mitjana, which is a bit harder to reach. Other nearby bays worth visiting are definitely Calo des Moro, Cala Llombards, Cala Figuera and of course Parc Natural de Mondrago.

Towns worth visiting are certainly beautiful, local Santanyi, the tiny town of s’Horta, or the port town of Portocolom. I am very curious about your opinion on the bay of Cala Gran.
