Talaia d’Albercutx in Mallorca

Talaia d’Albercutx in Mallorca is definitely one of the most famous viewpoints on the island. Many years ago, this place served as a watchtower. This is also indicated by the name – talaia – atalaya – torre de vigilancia, which means a tower used to observe the area. Many watchtowers in Mallorca have unfortunately been destroyed, but as in the case of Talaia d’Albercutx, many have also been restored or renovated. The tower is located just over 300 meters above sea level. The views that can be seen from it are definitely very impressive. Especially since the watchtower is located in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, near the famous Formentor lighthouse.

To visit Talaia d’Albercutx in Mallorca you must park your car here: 39.92865181205044, 3.110578104627478 and walk about 30 minutes to the viewpoint. You can also try to drive your car up to the tower itself, but this borders on the miraculous in summer. It is also important to know that during high season it is forbidden to enter Formentor by private car from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The ban counts from the very beginning of the route. You can then get to the tower by bus, which stops at the parking lot from the location I gave above. However, I recommend trying to get there at 6pm, for sunset. Be warned, there will be traffic jams.

What to do in the Talaia d’Albercutx area?

The watchtower allows you to see beautiful places such as the famous Formentor beach, the landscapes of Pollensa harbor, and the Mirador Es Colomer located right next to it from a distance. After spending some time at the watchtower, make sure to visit Formentor beach, Formentor lighthouse and side wild beaches such as Cala Murta or Cala Figuera. A little further away are beautiful places such as the town of Pollensa or Alcudia.

In my opinion it is also worth going to Cala Victoria, which is a rocky bay with beautiful views, or Cala Sant Vincente, which makes a great visual impression. One thing is for sure, going to Formentor and its surroundings, you must have a fully charged phone and memory space in your camera, because it is a very scenic place. Even though I have been there many times, I always stop every now and then for pictures.
