Santa Maria del Cami in Mallorca

Santa Maria del Cami in Mallorca is a medium-sized town in Mallorca, which is located near the capital, the city of Palma. What I like most about the towns near Palma is the view of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, which you can see from the roof of your house in good weather, and with a good location, you don’t even have to leave your house. Santa Maria is a typical local town where you will surely find great bars and restaurants where you can taste local dishes.

The town is worth visiting, if only for the local market, which is one of the most visited on the island. This is the so-called “nucleo de artesanos”, a place famous for its artisanal, handmade products. Santa Maria del Cami is also a place where you will have the opportunity to taste local wine or even brandy. Another thing that attracts you here, especially during the winter months, are the almond trees that are in full bloom.

What to do in and around Santa Maria del Cami in Mallorca?

Every Sunday there is a large local market in the town where you will be able to buy souvenirs, local products, clothes and accessories. The town is beautifully located and the architecture is typical Mallorcan, with light-colored stone houses, narrow streets, persians and local bars with gardens. This type of town hides a lot of history, so make sure to visit the parish church, the old prison or the main square “La plaza de los Hostales”.

The town also hosts its characteristic ferias y festes, or festivals and cultural events related to the celebration of saints, harvests and the like. What to see in the Santa Maria del Cami area? I highly recommend you to go to the town of Marratxi, the capital of Mallorca, or Palma, and if you would like to see an interesting beach in the area, then the closest beach is Playa de Palma, or the nearby Cala Major or Cala Comtesa. If you like shopping, then consider visiting the “Mallorca Fashion Outlet”.

Have you ever been to Santa Maria del Cami in Mallorca? Do you recommend this place or would you rather avoid it? I definitely recommend a visit, especially if you have this place on your way, and if it’s Sunday, maybe you can find a local market?
