Cala Murta in Mallorca

Cala Murta in Mallorca is one of the most beautiful unspoiled bays on the island, surrounded by the beautiful cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The cliffs are covered with pine trees, which provide natural shade and great relief in summer. To reach Cala Murta, park your car here: “39.94926676016578, 3.168489569128413” and then follow the sign “Cami de Cala Murta” to the right. You will reach the beach in less than 30 minutes. It is important to note that during the summer season it is officially forbidden to enter Formentor by car from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, so I recommend using public transportation. The bus stop is located near the sign directing to the trail.

The beach on Cala Murta is rocky, so I highly recommend bringing your own swimming shoes, as well as drinks and food, as there are no services on the beach. Cala Murta is an ideal place for snorkeling with a mask. Because of the unspoiled landscapes, rocky ground and rocks around – it is an ideal place for different species of fish and aquatic creatures. It is also a great area for people who like hiking and beautiful views. I highly recommend taking a walk along the cliffs where you will have a completely different perspective of the beautiful beach.

The route to Cala Murta in Mallorca itself is very easy and on the way you can meet wild goats and donkeys (also on the beach), so I recommend you to bring some snacks for these animals to make friends faster. After swimming in Cala Murta it is also worth to walk a little bit further to Es Castellet, a viewpoint with a view over Pollensa region.

What to do in the Cala Murta area?

Definitely visit the other attractions that offers Cape Formentor, such as Cala Figuera, Cap de Formentor, Mirador Es Colomer. A little further I recommend visiting the town of Alcudia, Pollensa, or the longest beach on Mallorca, the Playa de Muro. Even further interesting places will certainly be Sa Calobra, Gorg Blau, or located even further local, beautiful towns such as Fornalutx and Soller, or Alaro and Orient. All these places are definitely worth recommending.

I am very curious if anyone reading this has managed to get to this beautiful place, which is the bay of Cala Murta. It is definitely on the list of top places on Mallorca. I look forward to your opinions in the comments!
