Cala Figuera in Mallorca

Cala Figuera in Mallorca, this picturesque port bay, hidden in the south of the island, in the municipality of Santanyi. I would like to point out right away that Google Maps displays the name “Cala Figuera” several times. As I mentioned above, we will choose Cala Figuera in the south of the island as the topic. In this post, we will discover all its beauty, and believe me, it is the only place of its kind on the island. If you intend to visit Cala D’or, Portopetro, Cales de Mallorca or Colonia de Sant Jordi, it is worth taking a moment to look into this hidden treasure.

Cala Figuera is a place less crowded with tourists, which makes it even more unique. It is true that the accommodation offer in this area is a bit more modest, but do not let this discourage you. The picturesque atmosphere of the bay is worth looking for alternative accommodation solutions. You can find several charming guesthouses and private apartments that will provide you with peace and closeness to nature. And when it comes to food, don’t worry – Cala Figuera won’t disappoint your palate. There are several charming restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local specialities, while enjoying the view of the romantic bay.

Cala Figuera in Mallorca is a place where nature and architecture intertwine in a spectacular way. This tight and tiny bay is full of colorful boats and picturesque garages, whose doors are painted in different, colorful shades. Walking along the shore, you can discover countless nooks and crannies of this place, stopping to admire the picturesque shots and surrender to the magic of the moment. Cala Figuera is a mysterious oasis, where time slows down and the beauty of nature surrounds you on all sides. Let this bay become a hidden gem in Mallorca that you will discover during your vacation.

Is Cala Figuera in Mallorca worth visiting?

Cala Figuera is a peaceful and charming place that is worth a visit, even if only for a short while, during your trip to Majorca. This small bay is full of life, bustling with the energy of fishermen, water sports enthusiasts and boat owners. Surrounded by medium-high cliffs covered in typical Majorcan vegetation, Cala Figuera in Mallorca captivates with its natural beauty. There is also no shortage of characteristic, bent pine trees, adding charm to this already magical place.

Among the masses of local cats, you can also see large fishing nets of various colours and fabrics in the port. This is a typical sight in port towns, where fishermen spend hours assembling and repairing their nets. Interestingly, the popular series “White Lines” was filmed in Cala Figuera in Mallorca. If you are a fan of this production, you may recognise many places in Majorca, including the Figuera fishing bay, the Illeta restaurant in Sant Elm and many other charming towns. The scene in Cala Figuera was filmed during the celebration of the patron saint of fishermen, La Virgen del Carmen. This is a unique opportunity to see the traditions and processions associated with this holiday in port towns. It will be a real insight into the lives of fishermen and their cultural heritage.

The bay is not suitable for swimming

Cala Figuera is certainly not your typical beach for sunbathing and swimming, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your attention. This fishing town has an incredible history and charm. Walking along the shore, you can admire the beautiful and well-preserved fishing houses that give this place a unique character. A photography route has also been created here. When you look along the bay, you will see a lot of boats and yachts moored, which is evidence of its popularity with sailing enthusiasts. However, it is important to remember that due to the traffic in the port, swimming can be dangerous. Therefore, for safety reasons, we recommend using other places to swim on the island.

However, for those passionate about diving and discovering the underwater world, Cala Figuera offers extraordinary opportunities. Thanks to the structure of the bay, with its cliffs and rocky ground, you can meet a variety of fascinating aquatic creatures. During our walk, we had the pleasure of seeing cuttlefish and stingrays!

What I also like about Cala Figuera is the possibility of walking the route to the caves, located on the other side of the bay. Being by the port, you can easily spot the caves – maybe a good idea for a discovery walk?
