Cala Marcal in Mallorca
Cala Marcal in Mallorca is a medium-sized bay with a sandy beach by the town of Portocolom. The beach itself has a chiringuito, or beach bar, and there are also restaurants and stores nearby. In addition, there is parking close to the beach. If you don’t manage to park there, you have to park somewhere in town. The beach is very well maintained, long and quite wide, which is good for tourists. Cala Marcal is also guarded. There are also toilets, showers and sun beds for rent. The water is crystal clear and its color is wonderfully turquoise.
Cala Marcal is a good place to relax around the town of Portocolom. The beach is very busy, due to the fact that it is one of the few beaches within easy reach for people staying or living in Portocolom. A very good location for paddle boarding, mask diving, or kayaking. The water here is calm and the rocks are rather low. What I like most about places like this is definitely the view from the top of the beach. Just step onto the rocks and you get a view of the beautiful cove.
What to do in the Cala Marcal area?
Be sure to visit the port town of Portocolom, and explore the surrounding bays such as Cala Sa Nau, the more accessible Cala Mitjana, or the beautiful bays in and around Cala d’Or in Santanyi, such as Calo des Moro, Cala Llombards, Cala Figuera and Parc Natural de Mondrago. In the evening, drive to the town of Santanyi for a stroll and ‘copa de vino’ at a local restaurant.
