Cala Fornells in Mallorca
Cala Fornells in Mallorca is one of those places that charms you from the first glance. This small but picturesque bay in the southwestern part of Mallorca captivates you with its peace and natural beauty. Why visit Cala Fornells?
Despite its small size, the bay offers everything you need to relax. The tranquility of this place mainly attracts families with children and those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of larger resorts. Tourists can count on free parking, but the lack of public toilets and shops nearby means it is worth preparing in advance by stocking up on food and drink in the town of Paguera.
The beach at Cala Fornells is made up of sand and pebbles, and the water is shallow and calm, making it ideal for children. Concrete platforms along the shore offer additional space to relax, while the seabed, covered in sand, stones and algae, encourages you to bring water shoes to avoid slipping. The sight of boats, catamarans and sailboats floating on the water perfectly complements the scenery.
Architectural gem – the “Las Aldeas” estate
In the immediate vicinity of Cala Fornells there is a unique housing estate “Las Aldeas“, designed in 1976 by Russian architect Pedro Otzoup. It is his designs, known for their colourful facades and prime location on the cliffs, that give this place its unique character. On the estate there is a memorial dedicated to the architect who designed many luxury villas in Majorca, including one belonging to Claudia Schiffer.
Las Aldeas is the perfect place for a walk among palm trees, cacti and lush greenery typical of Majorca. There are also restaurants with beautiful views, which are perfect for dinner in a unique setting. The charm of the estate, its peaceful atmosphere and closeness to nature make it a place to which you will always be happy to return.
Cala Fornells is a real paradise for lovers of beautiful landscapes and relaxation. If you are planning to visit the south-west of the island, be sure to put this place on your list – you will not regret it!
