Santa Ponsa in Mallorca

Santa Ponsa in Mallorca is a medium-sized town on Majorca, where the vast majority of tourists are English and Germans. This area is famous for the fact that the English language is predominant there. It is a great place for people who are moving to Mallorca and targeting English speaking areas. Santa Ponsa has well organised public transport, there is a mass of restaurants, bars and services. Doctors, clinics, gyms – all in one place, plus it’s really beautiful.

There are two bays in Santa Ponsa. The main bay has a sandy beach and shallow, crystal-clear water. It overlooks the Malgrats islands and a coastline covered in pine trees and (unfortunately) heavily built up with hotels and apartment blocks. The name of this beach is Playa Santa Ponsa. The second cove is closer to the harbour and is definitely much smaller than Playa Santa Ponsa. The beach is also sandy and the views are a little more natural, although we are still right on the main street. There is a bus stop behind the beach, making it easy to get to. The name of this beach is Es Calo d’en Pellicer. Both beaches have beautifully coloured water and are also suitable for children.

What to do in Santa Ponsa in Mallorca?

Santa Ponsa in Mallorca is a very entertaining town, but if anyone is looking for more information, I can add that there is a great rope park (right next to the port). A very cool idea for active leisure would be a trip to the archaeological park (entrance is free) – Puig de Sa Morisca. In the archaeological park are prepared paths for mountain hiking (they are not heavy), where point by point you can visit the most important, preserved to this day ruins of towers and many other buildings. The views from the top are really beautiful. I sincerely recommend going there, maybe like me you will meet wild goats there!

Mirador de las Malgrats.

Mirador means viewpoint. Santa Ponsa is famous for one of the most beautiful viewpoints on the island. It is the view over the Malgrats islets. I sincerely recommend going there for sunset. A lot of people gather there because it is phenomenal. You can watch the sunset from three lookout points: Mirador del Canon Islas Malgrats, Mirador Illes Malgrats and Mirador las Malgrats. Of the three, I recommend the first and the last. They are not far from each other, so you can see them all, one by one.

Not far away is also the town of Costa de la Calma with the Cala Blanca bay – well worth a visit, especially as it is only a few minutes by bus from the centre of Santa Ponsa. Nearby there are also towns such as Port Adriano (a luxurious port, with lots of beautiful yachts, catamarans, ships and a nice beach), Paguera (where I recommend going to go on the way to the estate “las Aldeas” and the bay of Cala Fornells), as well as Camp de Mar, Palma Nova and the party Magaluf (that is the Majorcan Mielno in luxury version, haha).

Is it worth living in Santa Ponsa in Mallorca?

In my opinion, Santa Ponsa is one of the towns in Mallorca that is ideal for living. Especially for people who speak English. Majorca is overwhelmingly visited by German tourists, which is a problem for many people because of the language. Santa Ponsa has many jobs, it is close to the capital and with great access to many other towns where you can also look for work. In addition, there are all kinds of banks, clinics, veterinarian and other services that are missing or non-existent in other towns.
