Sineu in Mallorca

Sineu in Mallorca is a medium sized town located in the middle of the island. As it turns out, this place is not only beautiful views, but also a town filled with history. It is here that the oldest hospital in Mallorca is located, which was built in 1240. In the vicinity of the town, much evidence has been found that the area was inhabited by people as early as prehistoric times. This is evidenced by the talayotic remains, which can be freely visited. These include: “Talayot de Son Creixell, Talayot Sa Ritxla, Talayot Sa Ritxoleta”.

If you travel to Sineu in Mallorca you will experience the tranquility, culture, traditions and history of Mallorca and, most importantly, the climate of the island. Due to its location, Mallorca used to live off agriculture before the tourist boom and it is in places like this that it is easy to see that agriculture has shaped the local people. To this day, many of the traditions, celebrations and festivals are linked to the seasons, the harvests, the faith. The locals lead a quiet life here, dependent on what the land brings them.

What to see in and around Sineu?

Every Wednesday there is a “mercado semanal”, which is a market where you can buy local products, souvenirs, crafts. Sineu was once ruled by important people for the reigning king, so now we can admire the beautiful architecture in the city, impressive monuments, or feel the atmosphere of one of the most important cities on the island. The location of this city is favorable, because close from here to many interesting places.

I mention for example the Planetarium, or cities such as Alcudia, Felanitx, Campos, Arta, Algaida, and of course, the capital of Majorca – Palma. The nearest beach is definitely Playa de Muro, although at a similar distance there is also a beautiful Sa Coma, or Cala Morlanda. As you can see, the possibilities are really many. Have any of my readers ever been to Sineu? What do you think about this place? Do you recommend or rather discourage a visit?
