Villafranca de Bonany in Mallorca

Villafranca de Bonany in Mallorca is a very small village located in the central part of the island, near the large town of Manacor. I pass through there very often when taking the bus to Palma, and each time I am moved by how landscaped this place is, despite its size. The locals make their living mainly from agriculture, which you can see when you visit this town.

Villafranca de Bonany in Mallorca is famous for its melons, peppers and garlic. If you want to taste local products during your stay, this is a great place to visit. You will also get to know the typical local rural life. You will definitely hear the dialect spoken on the island and you will get a glimpse of the agricultural, rural life of the inhabitants of this small town.

What to see in and around the town of Villafranca de Bonany?

As in most villages, the biggest attractions are located in the main square, and the same is true here. While strolling around this small village, it is worth noticing the local church, the local architecture and the molino, or windmill, thanks to which the agricultural life in Villafranca de Bonany in Mallorca gained a faster pace. This is the only well-preserved windmill in the area, which was once used to grind grain.

Near Villafranca de Bonany, the town of Manacor is worth a visit, where you can do some major shopping, visit the Mallorca pearl factory or the Rafael Nadal museum. There is a local market on Mondays from 9 am to 1:30 pm and in the town of Villafranca de Bonany from 9 am to 2 pm on Wednesdays. Other interesting towns in the area are Petra, Porreres and Felantix. As far as the surrounding bays are concerned, I recommend Cales de Mallorca, Cala Romantica, Porto Cristo, Sa Coma and Cala Morlanda.
