First of all, the extraordinary length of this beach is amazing. Starting from Port de Alcudia all the way to Can Picafort, Playa de Muro stretches for an impressive distance of about 6 kilometers. It is a real paradise for lovers of long walks along the seaside. It is providing unforgettable experiences and the opportunity to discover various corners.
The sand of Playa de Muro in Mallorca is soft and the water is incredibly clear. It is a real treat for lovers of swimming and water sports. And best of all, the water is shallow here, which makes Playa de Muro an ideal place for families with children. You can be sure that your little ones will play and enjoy a completely safe environment.
Playa de Muro – is this the most beautiful beach in Mallorca?
Playa de Muro in Mallorca is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It was even named the most beautiful beach in 2022. It is here that you can enjoy the sun and admire the heavenly shade of the water. Along the beach you will also find cozy restaurants where you can enjoy a drink, a refreshing beer or a delicious meal. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the moment.
Near the beach there is a charming national park s’Albufeira. It will delight you with views of picturesque dunes and pine trees. You can indulge in various water sports here, and favorable winds also favor sailing or kitesurfing. In the nearby town of Alcudia, in addition to the beautiful historic center and large port, additional attractions await you. For families with children (but not only), a visit to Hidropark is an excellent idea. Hidropark is a water park full of fun and entertainment. In the area you will also find vineyards, a golf course, a museum and many other interesting attractions, including historical ones.
Playa de Muro in Mallorca is a place where nature meets fun and beauty. No matter what you are looking for in your trip, you will find everything you need to make your stay unforgettable.
How to get to Playa de Muro
The entire area of Playa de Muro beach, stretching for about 6 kilometers, is divided into four sectors. Each with its own unique character. There are signs at the beach exits, and using Google Maps you can easily get to the right place for you.
Sector 1
This is the most urbanized section of the beach and it flows seamlessly into Playa de Alcudia. It is an ideal place for those looking for amenities such as bars, restaurants and sunbeds. This part is also very well connected to the city of Alcudia and the nearest attractions. Public transport is very well organized here. There is no boredom here, and the view of the port adds character to this sector. A nice addition are the palm trees on the beach itself.
Sector 2
This section transitions into the more natural atmosphere of Playa de Muro beach, for which it is famous. There are fewer hotels, restaurants, or shops here (but don’t worry – there is still plenty to choose from). This is a very good place for people who do not want to go far from the port. If you still want to enjoy a slightly more intimate atmosphere, this is a place for you. Characteristic of this sector is the proximity of the s’Albufeira Natural Park, and the natural boundary between sector 1 and sector 2 is created by the s’Oberta Canal. This canal drains water from the marshy areas of the natural park.
Sector 3
This sector is very characteristic, because it is completely natural. It is part of a natural park and you will not find any hotels or restaurants here. The sector starts at the Iberostar Selection Albufera Park hotel and ends at the famous Ponderosa beach club. This is a truly heavenly section of Playa de Muro, less crowded, a bit more peaceful, but downright idyllic. Unlike the other sectors, parking here is much more difficult. You should park your car at the Ponderosa restaurant or the hotel I mentioned earlier and head towards the sea. Don’t worry – the walk to the beach is extremely pleasant and takes literally a few minutes.
Sector 4
The last sector of Playa de Muro is much shorter than the rest and is right next to the town of Can Picafort. All the services are here, and the town itself is famous for its wide availability of water attractions. It is also a quieter part of the Alcudia Bay. Compared to Playa de Alcudia, Can Picafort is much smaller, quieter, but still ideal for relaxation.
Access and facilities
- Sectors 1, 2 and 4: easy access by car, parking and footbridges for people with reduced mobility.
- Sector 3: no infrastructure, but that is its charm – natural peace and untouched nature.
Car park at Playa de Muro
In high season, parking near the beach can be a challenge. So here are a few tips:
- most parking spaces on Playa de Muro are free. In many cases it’s also worth parking in the housing estates, not just in the official parking lots.
- go to the beach first thing in the morning or in the afternoon to make it easier to find a spot.
- if you can’t find a spot on the pins I’ve marked, park in the nearest permitted spot. The beach stretches for several kilometers. You won’t have a problem finding a spot for your towel, even in high season.

Playa de Muro – the blue flag and the famous jetty
Playa de Muro is a place that proudly displays its blue flag, confirming the excellent quality of its water and infrastructure. But that’s not all that Playa de Muro can boast about. Playa de Muro is home to the famous jetty, a true icon that adorns postcards and Instagram photos. In summer, it is extremely popular with beachgoers who want to fully enjoy this picturesque place. It is worth mentioning, that in winter the jetty is partially closed, as weather conditions can change drastically, which means that caution is needed.
The beach offers gentle waves all year round, and the views of Alcudia Bay are unforgettable. However, it is worth remembering that it can sometimes be a bit windy, due to the long and open beach area. In summer, this is a great relief.

It is worth noting that there are also jetties on Playa de Alcudia. A little tip from me! When looking for jetties, it is worth turning on the satellite view on Google Maps. By zooming the map to the beach itself. This way you will find the exact location of each jetty. Furthermore, along the entire length of the several-kilometer-long Playa de Muro and Playa de Alcudia beaches.

- High prices in the area
Playa de Muro is located in a popular tourist area, which means that prices in nearby restaurants, shops and hotels may be higher than in less popular areas. - No natural shade
There are no trees or natural shelters from the sun on the beach, meaning you will need to rent an umbrella or bring your own. - Less interest in diving
The waters here are shallow and calm, which is ideal for families but less attractive for those looking for diving or snorkeling. - Wind in certain periods of the year
