Costa de los Pinos in Mallorca

Costa de los Pinos in Mallorca is a charming coastline full of pine oases. “Costa de los Pinos” literally means “pine coast” and is a charming village set in a landscape densely covered with pine trees. This place exudes a wonderful atmosphere, especially on the beaches, where the pine trees offer cooling and shade.

Where is Costa de los Pinos?

Costa de los Pinos in Mallorca is a paradise on the slopes of the Llevant Mountains, which start in Arta and end in Felanitx. These mountains, no higher than 600 meters above sea level, form a natural barrier that protects Costa de los Pinos from the northern winds. This place exudes peace and quiet. In the area you will find some charming shops and restaurants. Costa de los Pinos is also an exclusive area in Mallorca, inhabited mainly by wealthy Germans and English. However, you will not find crowds of party people and nightclubs here.

History of Costa de los Pinos

The first housing estates were built here in 1958, with full respect for the natural vegetation. Care was taken to ensure that the houses blended harmoniously with the surrounding nature. Due to the unique approach to protecting the vast natural area, Costa de los Pinos has only one hotel, which is discreetly located on the sidelines. We are talking about the Eurotel Golf Punta Roja. There is also a charming port nearby, as well as a golf course that has been popular since 1967.

The beaches of Costa de los Pinos in Mallorca

Although Costa de los Pinos is not famous for its vast sandy beaches, it will surely surprise you with its charming and wild coves. These include the famous Es Rajoli and Sa Marjal (also known as Playa Costa de los Pinos). One of the places you can’t miss is Mirador Cap des Pinar (or Costa de los Pinos) – a viewpoint that offers a magnificent view of the bay of Cala Millor. In addition, in the area you will find picturesque hiking trails that connect Costa de los Pinos with Canyamel. If you are interested, here is a link to one of these trails: link here.

The charm of the coves on the Costa de los Pinos

In addition to the main sandy beach, Costa de los Pinos offers a multitude of charming coves. They are mostly rocky or pebbly, although you can also find some with a sandy bottom. Keep in mind that they are not very wide. Both in winter and summer, the beaches can be covered with algae, which is a natural phenomenon. Some coves require crossing overgrown paths, narrow streets or tight steps. Although these are not beaches for classic lazing around, their wildness and charm are worth exploring.

How to get to the wild bays of Costa de los Pinos in Mallorca?

Before reaching these wild coves, it is worth bearing in mind that some of the beaches require crossing water or climbing rocks. Sometimes it may seem that we are entering someone’s private land, but there is nothing to worry about – all beaches in Mallorca are public and accessible to everyone. We can freely use the concrete ports, beaches and stairs, which were often built by the owners of private land.

When visiting these beaches, we recommend taking with you shoes for moving on rocks, as well as food and drink. It is worth remembering that you will not find showers, toilets or bars here. Everything here is in a “wild”, natural style. However, this atmosphere of closeness to nature and lack of civilized amenities makes these coves unique and worth visiting.

Wild beaches of Costa de los Pinos

Today I present to you beaches that are not known by name and have no markings on the map. It was my curiosity that led me to these extraordinary places. I receive many questions from you about wild, picturesque beaches without crowds of tourists, so I want to introduce them to you now. But let’s start with the main beach: Sa Marjal.

Playa Costa de los Pinos

Playa Costa de los Pinos is easy to reach. You can get there by bus, bike, car, light rail or on foot. There is a car park behind the beach, and you can use the beach bar and toilets. This sandy beach impresses with its crystal clear waters. From its shores there is a picturesque view of the impressive cliff and the cruise ships passing by. It is an ideal place for families with children, although you will not find many additional attractions here.

Playa des Rajoli

This beach is sandy, but quite small. The path to it is marked with signs. It is located just behind the rental apartments. To get there, you have to go down the stairs. On the left side is a small port. On the right is the beach. The beach is 7 meters long, and with big waves, it is much smaller. Playa des Rajoli is very pretty, though. It is rare for there to be so many boulders on the beaches of Majorca. This makes for nice photos. There is also shade on the beach, cast by – of course – pine trees. This is one of my favorites. The signs in front of the beach inform us that there are three dangerous rocks in the water. I recommend swimming shoes.

Wild beach Costa de los Pinos no 2

To get to this beach, it is best to park your car on Carrer dels Brucs. From there, it is very easy to get to this beach. You will definitely find a mysterious exit from the street. In the photos below, it does not look that attractive. However, in the summer, when the water is much calmer and there is much less algae, the beach certainly makes a huge impression. The road to the beach is a beautiful forest. In addition to the sandy beach, on the left side, we will see a villa and a concrete beach and a port. They were built by the owners, but illegally, so you can use them freely. Do I recommend it? The choice is yours. The owners may be outraged. I recommend swimming shoes!

Wild beach no 3

This beach is located a little deeper into the housing estate. Park your car on Carrer de sa Caleta. It is rarely visited because few people venture this far. The beach is rocky. I also highly recommend bringing swimming shoes. Since it is a rocky beach, you will definitely find lots of fish here. So bring your goggles too. What I love about this beach is that it is the easiest way to get to my FAVORITE, secret beach.

At the moment, it is practically impossible to get to this beach. The owner of one of the houses has planted cacti and eucalyptus on the path leading to the beach and attached a fence behind the rocks. The path, port and beach are public. The owner of this house probably did this illegally, but there is nothing we can do about it. Maybe in the summer it will be easier to get there when the water is calmer. To get to the beach, you just have to go left. Along the cliffs.

Wild beach number 4

To get to this beach, head down Avenida del Pinar and park right next to Carrer Sense nom (no-name street). This beach is very small, but also hidden. In the summer, there are definitely very few people here. This is another beach that has concrete roads and stone steps, probably built by the owners. Of course, it is rocky. Again, I recommend shoes! It should be quiet and peaceful here!

Wild beach no 5

Here, the characteristic bridge will be the one we will see at the entrance to the beach. Getting there is easy. The beach itself does not make a huge impression, but I highly recommend it for sunsets. You will find peace and quiet here. Few people venture into such side streets of Costa de los Pinos. The beach, like the rest, is rocky, so take your swimming shoes with you. And enjoy the peace and quiet among the pine trees. Park on Carrer la Brisa, you will find the entrance on the right side, between the houses.

Wild beach number 6

This beach is not the most comfortable or accessible. The passage to the beach is full of bushes, thickets, pine needles, leaves. At the end we reach a small bay, having previously passed a house where two dogs live (loud dogs). Before our eyes there are dozens of sharp rocks. Here you MUST have swimming shoes. I recommend this beach only to people who simply like peace and quiet and do not necessarily enjoy all-day bathing.

There is a natural pool made of rocks by the shore.

You can sit there and cool off. However, in my opinion, swimming is out of the question here. Walking along the rocks to the left, we will reach a concrete beach with a wooden gazebo built into it, which in the summer certainly serves as shade for the owners of the villas. This concrete beach is public and probably built illegally, like most. An ideal place for sunbathing in the summer. Park at the roundabout on Carrer la Brisa. Here you will find a characteristic tree and a descent to the beach.

Wild beach number 7

Now I laugh to myself, because I have been to the Costa de los Pinos viewpoint many times and I only noticed the descent to this beach recently. And that’s only because there was a herd of wild goats on the other side of the street and I had to take pictures of them. The descent to the beach is easy, there are stairs leading to it. The beach is small and rocky. I also recommend swimming shoes here. It is harder to find shade here, and the rocks heat up very quickly! The water here is crystal clear. There are not too many people here. An ideal place for diving enthusiasts! To get to this beach, head towards Mirador Costa de los Pinos. You will see the descent on the right side.

Costa de los Pinos in Mallorca

As you can see, this place hides many wild, small, atmospheric bays. All of them are rocky. All of them are surrounded by villas and beautiful pine trees. You will see beautiful sunsets here and experience peace and quiet. Costa de los Pinos is the perfect place for people who want to relax, but also love a good adventure and unusual places.
