Villa Raixa – Majorca during winter.

Tickets are cheaper, which tempts people to buy them. The winter weather in Majorca is very confusing. One day we walk in shorts, and then the day after We wear long pants and a jacket. One day the sun is shining and there is not a single cloud in the sky. And the second day is dark, grey, cloudy and it’s raining every now and then. The humidity level usually reaches 80%. That’s why the evenings are getting very cold. Answering your questions … after all, it’s WORTH going to Majorca in the winter, especially to Villa Raixa

However, it is quite risky – due to the weather.

If you do not have a driving license or money to rent a car, to be honest – a trip may turn out to be a flop. In Majorca, public transport unfortunately does not work very well. It happens that buses do not come at all, and the timetable in google is not compatible with reality. However, if you take the direction of Palma on your winter journey. Fortunately, it will not be so bad. The capital is much better stocked. With everything ;).

I do not know how it looks with you, but in my case I am the initiator of all trips.

It is me who force others to leave house and go sightseeing. This is not a problem for me, because I love when I decide where we are going. One of these ideas was Villa Raixa. Once I saw a beautiful picture from it’s garden I decided that one day we will definietely go there. The weather was amazing. The only downside was that the villa can only be visited from 10:00 to 15:00. So there is little time to explore this place fully. Admission is free, which is a huge plus.

The biggest downside of traveling with the whole family (apart from the huge amount of  argues) is the organization.

It’s hard to make it anywhere on time. Even if something is going to be well organized, the plan will fall somewhere. For example, because somebody has to stop and pee. Or because before I leave, somebody will still have a coffee. Or because somebody forgot something and has to go home and find it. Then it’s coming down the hill. It only appears in the car by: “how do you drive ?!”, “If You don’t like it than You can drive it yourself!”, “Go slower, you want to kill us?”. Standard in every Polish family and probably not only… :).

We got to the Villa Raixa.

Villa Raixa is located near the capital, Palma de Mallorca. The villa was even visited by the King himself with his family. The area is very picturesque. Orchards of fruit trees grow around the villa. The villa itself is very impressive. Palms and conifers are planted around it. At first glance, you can see that the villa has beautiful balconies and is substantial.

Raixa is especially known for her gardens.

From the villa Raixa, the views extend over the orchards and gardens of the ‘dels Tarongers’, ‘de la Galeria’ and ‘d’Entrada’. One of them has a pond, overlooking the orchards and mountains. You can admire them from the view terrace. Another impresses with its monumental stairs, around which beautiful bushes are planted. It adds beautiful contrast to the photos. Another garden captured me how well-groomed it is. The gardeners carefully cut the bushes into a labyrinth. In the middle of the paths there is a small fountain. A beautiful staircase leads from the villa to the garden, which adds beauty to this place. At the end of the trip, it is worth going to the lookout tower. The view from it stretches over orchards and cities.

A very interesting place is the grand entrance gate, built in 1898.

In 1910, the villa was sold to the entrepreneur Antoni Jaume. Villa Raixa has an unique appearance, thanks to the neoclassical renovation completed in the eighteenth century by Cardinal Despuig. The Cardinal was one of the key figures in the Majorcan enlightenment. The villa is currently only used as a public place. Everything is for free, so you can expect that not everything is in perfect condition. However, it is definitely worth going there for the views. It is an ideal place to relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. And definitely the perfect place to explore in the winter.
